A half-bridge inverter is provided to reduce a manufacturing cost and the size of products by not requiring an additional peripheral circuit for circuit protection. A half-bridge inverter includes a transformer(Tr), an external driving switch(Q1), a self driving switch(Q2), and a resonating capacitor(C3). The transformer(Tr) has a primary winding, a secondary winding, and an auxiliary winding. The external driving switch(Q1) is connected to the primary winding and a ground and is controlled by a square control signal. The self driving switch(Q2) is connected to the primary winding, the auxiliary winding, and a DC power source and controlled by an output voltage of the auxiliary winding. The resonating capacitor(C3) is connected to the secondary winding. And, the square control signal controls the switching of the external driving switch(Q1) and the output voltage of the auxiliary winding controls the switching of the self driving switch(Q2) to introduce the direct current into the primary winding of the transformer(Tr).
