An exhaust gas turbocharger for an internal combustion engine is provided to eliminate the necessity of sealing a hydraulic machine against the exhaust gas turbocharger, and eliminate the necessity of using an additional connector by using an existing oil supply connector and an existing oil outlet connector of the turbocharger so as to supply oil to the hydraulic machine. An exhaust gas turbocharger(10) for an internal combustion engine, comprises a turbine for expanding flow of exhaust gas emitted from an engine; and a compressor for compressing flow of air to be supplied to the engine. The turbine includes a turbine rotor(11), and the compressor includes a compressor rotor(12). The rotors are arranged on a single common shaft(13). A bearing housing(16) for supporting the shaft is interposed between the turbine rotor and the compressor rotor. One or more hydraulic machines(17) are integrated into the bearing housing. The hydraulic machines are provided with a mechanical shaft output from the exhaust gas turbocharger in a generator mode, or supply a mechanical shaft output to the exhaust gas turbocharger in a motor mode. |
