The device has an inlet mechanism comprising a set of inlet valves (3, 4) for each of the several cylinders (2) of a diesel type internal combustion engine (1). An exhaust mechanism has a set of exhaust valves (5, 6) for each cylinder. One of the mechanisms has the valves (3, 5) and the valves (4, 6) per cylinder. A variable inlet and exhaust gas distribution system varies according to the engine speed to control the valves (4, 6) of each cylinder in a dissociated manner of actuation of the valves (3, 5). An independent claim is also included for a diesel type internal combustion engine`s supercharging method.
