A system for monitoring a mobile communication terminal by using an external camera and a method thereof are provided to monitor the rear of a car at a low cost by installing one or more general cameras, adaptively dividing the images outputted by the general cameras at a user's selection, and displaying the divided images on a screen of the mobile communication terminal. A system for monitoring a mobile communication terminal by using an external camera comprises one or more cameras(C1-Cn), a USB(Universal Serial Bus) hub(200) and a mobile terminal(100). The cameras(C1-Cn) take images and have a function for outputting the taken images. The USB hub(200) is connected to the cameras(C1-Cn) via USB cables and integrates image signals outputted by the cameras(C1-Cn). The mobile terminal(100), connected to the USB hub(200), restores the image signals, outputted by the USB hub(200), to original image signals, divides the restored image signals into one more image signals, and displays the divided image signals.
