A thickening composition simultaneously ensuring an appropriate thickening performance and an excellent feeling of use, which thickening composition comprises as essential components an N-long chain acyl acidic amino acid and/or its salt, an amphiphilic substance, an inorganic salt and water and has a viscosity of >=200 mPa.s. A cleaner and cosmetic simultaneously ensuring an appropriate thickening performance and an excellent feeling of use while containing an N-long chain acyl acidic amino acid and/or its salt can be provided by mixing of this thickening composition.
