Disclosed herein is a method for assessing performance and performance potential in horses using measurements of immunoglobulin levels, particularly levels of IgA and/or IgG. Also disclosed is a method for predicting impaired performance and/or susceptibility to infection in horses exposed to stressors, in particular physical stressors.
