SUBJECT of the invention: a method of pulling a new pipeline in an enclosure, e.g. through an existing pipeline, in erecting or repairing passageways running across water obstacles, especially those of lengthy runs, and an apparatus therefor.FIELD OF USE: erection and repair of main pipelines, especially oil pipelines.ESSENCE OF THE INVENTION: a method and apparatus are proposed for pulling a new pipeline through an enclosure, wherein slip-contact supports are to be mounted on each section of the pipeline, the pipeline being advanced with a simultaneous check of welding and pulling prepared sections into the old enclosure. According to the invention the head portion of a pipeline section to be pulled first is proposed to be composed of two subsections, where the first section is adapted to center the head portion, while the second to provide for flexibility of the pipeline section to be pulled first in the curved sections of the enclosure. Various embodiments of the invention are proposed to optimize the shapes, dimension ratios, spans between the pipeline support structures.RESULT: a uniform distribution of load and a provision of a relative flexibility of the pipeline section to be pulled first to thereby improve adaptability of a pipeline to pulling as well as reliability and safety of pulling is attained.
