The invention relates to novel nitrogen-containing bicyclic compounds with biologic activity, more definite to xanthine derivatives of general formula (I),which are obtained from compounds of formulae (III), (V) and (VI). The compounds of general formula (I) may represent an active compound of a pharmaceutical composition inhibiting activity of the dipeptidylpeptidase-IV enzyme.
