A fire extinguishing apparatus using a home network system and a driving method thereof are provided to enable users to simply recognize an abnormal state, such as gas leakage or fire generation through a traditional telephone even when the users go out, thereby intercepting the gas leakage from the outside and improving the convenience of use by automatically intercepting the gas leakage through a timer function if predetermined time passes. A remote signal transceiving unit(110) receives a remote control signal supplied through a telephone line(102) and transmits a fire warning message through the telephone line(102). A memory(120) stores a receiving telephone number, a warning voice message, and a secret number for connection permission. A control unit(150) outputs a control signal for gas interception according to the remote control signal supplied in the remote signal transceiving unit(110) and determines the output of a warning voice and the connection permission by controlling the remote signal transceiving unit(110). A sensing unit(160) senses one of the temperature, gas leakage, smoke, and generation of a smell from the gas range and outputs a corresponding signal to the control unit(150). A fire extinguishing driving unit(170) realizes one of the extinguishing of fire generated from the gas range, a discharge of smoke or a smell, and the interception of gas by control of the control unit(150). |
