PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recovery device which sucks at and recovers a nondischarging nozzle of a print head, which permits a reduction in the quantity of waste ink to be sucked and does not cause an ink to remain on a discharge opening face and an inkjet recording device equipped with the recovery device. SOLUTION: The recovery device has the porous elastic member 110 of a capping means 11 which closely contacts a discharge opening face having a discharge opening to discharge an ink, which is formed of a hollow continuous porous elastic body and performs recovery actions as follows: 1. to cover a nondischarging nozzle by making the porous elastic member of the cap portion butt against the discharge opening, 2. to compress the porous elastic member, 3. to suck, 4. to stop sucking and hold the position of the cap portion, 5. to release the compression of the porous elastic member, 6. to idly suck, 7. to continue idle suction and the porous elastic member and separate the porous elastic member from the discharge opening, and the inkjet recording device.
