PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for suppressing a response delay of a supercharger in accelerating a variable compression ratio internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: In accelerating the variable compression ratio internal combustion engine, the compression ratio of the internal combustion engine is set to a compression ratio lower than a reference compression ratio determined to obtain predetermined heat efficiency while suppressing knocking according to the operating state of the internal combustion engine.
