PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve device for an internal combustion engine capable of finely adjusting a lift amount of respective intake valves, and capable of securing smooth operation while sufficiently preventing fluttering of an oscillating cam or a rocker arm occurring in operation by a torsion spring. SOLUTION: This device is provided with the oscillating cam 5 for opening and closing the intake valve 2 by oscillation force of the rocker arm 14 through a swing arm 27. Spherical pivots 20a to 21b are integrally formed on both ends of push rods 20 and 21 intervening between a cam nose part of the oscillation cam and a forked other end part 14d of the rocker arm. The respective pivots are fitted to a recessed part 13a formed on the cam nose part and a recessed part 57a of an adjusting screw 57 of a lift adjusting mechanism 17 of the other end part of the rocker arm in the housed state. Regarding the pivots, the oscillation cam is energized to the axial direction of the respective push rods by spring force of the respective torsion springs 23 through a pressure receiving pin 22.
