PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an "optical disk device" in which higher-speed seek operation is performed by considering the number of rotations of the disk. SOLUTION: When the optical disk device receives an instruction for seek operation of an optical pickup (Step S101), move time Tj by track jump from a present address to a target address and the move time Ts by trace move (Step S 102, 103) is calculated. The move time Tj and the Ts is compared, the move shorter in the move time is chosen (Step S 104-106), and the optical beam is moved to the target address by the chosen trace move or the chosen track jump (Step S107).
