An LCD and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to prevent the deterioration of picture quality caused by infiltering a ball spacer into a pixel area, by fixing the ball spacer on a substrate and curing a spacer material around the ball spacer when forming a space for maintaining cell gap. A first substrate(110) and a second substrate face each other. A fixing type ball spacer(130a) is formed on a predetermined portion of the first substrate. A spacer material(130b) is formed around the fixing type ball space, wherein a thickness of the space material is relatively smaller than a radius of the ball space. A liquid crystal layer is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The spacer material contains a binder, a monomer, and an initiator. |
