<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable image forming apparatus that can be installed near the wall, that can realize size reduction of the entire apparatus, smooth transportation of a sheet, or easy removal work at the occurrence of jamming, in spite of the near-wall installation, and that can stably form a high quality image, without sacrificing the miniaturization or the jam processing efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a pulling means for pulling out a unit, into which a first transport means, a resist means and a main transport means are integrated from an apparatus body to its front. The unit is constituted, in such a manner that the first transport means, the resist means and the main transport means are provided in a frame. The pulling means is a rail for sliding the frame forward and backward, with respect to the housing of the apparatus body provided in the apparatus main body and the frame.
