PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable gas production device for producing gas containing hydrogen which stably generates discharge.

SOLUTION: The gas production device comprises a catalyst bed heating device in which a receiving part 8 having an inwardly concave inner surface is provided in an earth part 3 for receiving spark discharge 6 from an electrode part 1, and the tip portion of the electrode part 1 is arranged oppositely to the inside of the receiving part 8 so that the distance from the tip portion of the electrode part 1 to the inner surface of the receiving part is substantially constant.
