METALLIZED SQUARILIUM COMPOUND AND OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM USING THIS COMPOUND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallized squarilium compound which has the high light absorption characteristics in the range of such wavelengths of 350 nm-500 nm as have the recordability and regenerability by a blue semiconductor laser, in compliance with the wishes of optical recording media in correspondence to the recording and regenerating of information by a blue laser light in order to correspond to the higher densification of optical recording media.

SOLUTION: The metallized squarilium compound consists of a squarilium compound expressed by general formula (A) or general formula (B) and of a metal salt or a metal ion (in the formulae, R1is, for example, an -OH group; R2through R4are each H, an alkyl group or the like; and X is O, S, NH or the like).
