PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a glass body in which a fluorine element is added while suppressing inclusion of hydroxy groups. SOLUTION: This method for producing the glass body in which the fluorine element is added comprises heat treating a porous glass body under fluorine gas atmosphere after dehydrating treatment of the porous glass body in a furnace tube 11. In the transition period from the dehydration treatment to the heat treatment, when a period of time to vary the total flow amount of a gas supplied into the furnace tube 11 is set as T, the varied amount of the total flow amount of the gas is set asΔF, and the volume of the furnace tube 11 is set as V, the total flow amount of the gas is varied so that an absolute value of a parameter R, represented by formula: R=100×ΔF/(V×T), becomes≤3.0 (%/min/s) to keep the inside pressure of the furnace tube 11 positive.
