PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor which allows an arbitrary drive number to be given to a connected external storage device and allows this device to be normally used in the same manner as an incorporated storage device. SOLUTION: When an HDD 208, a CD/DVD 209, an FDD 220, a nonvolatile memory 221 wherein format information of a USB storage device 222 is stored, and the USB storage device 222 are connected, the USB storage device 222 is virtually assigned as an FDD or an HDD on the basis of format information to give a drive number to the device 222.
