PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an intermediate server to efficiently handle information for updating software installed in terminals with minimum access and minimum information amounts to a distribution server and the terminals. SOLUTION: When the terminal 300 sends a request to update software, if the intermediate server 200 does not save past update information and past difference information matching the update request, it acquires difference information matching the update request from the distribution server 100 saving information on differences between old and new versions of software for updating the software, generates update information matching the update request according to the difference information, generates a distribution package packaging the generated update information and a procedure for installing the update information in the terminal 300, and sends the distribution package to the terminal 300.
