PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save the space for an apparatus by reducing the size of the apparatus and raise production efficiency of a fuel compact by simply and efficiently manufacturing the fuel compact through simplification of the apparatus. SOLUTION: A fuel compact 1 manufacturing apparatus 10 comprises dies 12 charged with fuel particles 2 and a plurality of punches 14 for compacting the fuel particles 2 charged in the dies 12 to manufacture the fuel compact 1. The individual punches 14 are inserted into the dies 12 in succession and can be moved to advance into and retreat from the dies 12. When the punches 14 are moved to advance, the fuel particles 2 charged in the space between one punch 14 and another preceding punch 14 are compacted between the two punches 14 to form the fuel compact 1, and the fuel compact 1 is pushed out in the advancing direction by advancement of the other punch 14 following behind. The dies 12 has an outlet 18 for taking out the punches 14 and the fuel compact 1 formed between the punches 14. All the punches 14 have the same shape. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
