<p>An elevator car and a counterbalance weight are suspended in a hoistway by a main rope. Further, a drive device is provided in the hoistway, and the drive device lifts and lowers the car and the counterbalance weight by moving the main rope. The drive device has a drive device body that includes a rotation body through which the main rope as a penetration body penetrates and has contact rollers that are arranged on the rotation body, in contact with the penetration body, and capable of rotating about rotation axes that are inclined, when viewed in a vertical projection of the penetration body, relative to the center axis of the penetration body. When the rotation bodies are rotated, the contact rollers rotate while in contact with the penetration body, forming spiral excursions on the outer peripheral surface of the penetration body. When the contact rollers are rolled while in contact with the penetration body, the main rope is moved in its longitudinal direction, relative to the drive device.</p> |
