<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractable type writing implement which is free from the possibility that ink leaks outside from a tip opening, even when the ink leaks out from a penpoint, and from the possibility that a liquid absorbing member consisting of a porous elastic material is damaged by the penpoint. <P>SOLUTION: A writing body 3 is held in a holder tube 2 so that it is movable in the longitudinal direction. The penpoint 31 of the writing body 3 is so constituted that it can be projected and retracted from the tip opening 21 of the holder tube 2. The tip opening 21 of the holder tube 2 is provided with an opening-closing member 4 formed of a nonporous elastic body having a slit-like port 41 which can be opened and closed, and with the liquid absorbing member 5 being in close contact with the outer peripheral surface of the opening-closing member 4 and formed of a porous elastic body. At the time when the penpoint 31 is in projection from the tip opening 21, the opening-closing port 41 wide opens and the penpoint 31 is inserted through the port 41. When the penpoint 31 is in retraction in the holder tube 2, the port 41 is almost closed up and forms a capillary aperture 42.
