<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure that the heat-resistant and pressure-resistant strength of joining parts of both crosslinked polyethylene pipes is not inferior to that of the pipes when the respective joining parts are joined together. <P>SOLUTION: This method for joining crosslinked polyethylene pipes together is to fit one 3 of the joining parts into the other joining part 4, with regard to the joining parts 3 and 4 of the crosslinked polyethylene pipes 1 and 2, and thereby, join both joining parts 3 and 4 to each other. In this joining method, first, a composite material 8 of a polyethylene 5 and an organic peroxide 6 is interposed between the inner surface of one joining part 3 and the outer surface of the other joining part 4, fitted into each other, and next, the composite material 8 is heated at the decomposition temperature or higher of the organic peroxide 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
