<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine, preventing the exhaustion of high concentration HC to the outside by additionally supplying fuel from the upstream side of an exhaust gas purifying filter to an exhaust system when executing PM regeneration control temperature rise treatment. <P>SOLUTION: Whether high concentration unburnt fuel exhaustion is found or not is decided in accordance with an air-fuel ratio AF, a calculated air-fuel ratio AFc and an exhaust gas temperature thco (S110, S112, S114). When that high concentration unburnt fuel is exhausted is determined ([no] in one of S110, S112, S114), a fuel addition amount per each addition in PM regeneration control is corrected to be reduced (S116). Thus, when there is an event that high concentration HC is exhausted to the downstream side of the exhaust gas purifying filter, the fuel addition amount per each addition is immediately reduced, therefore preventing the exhaustion of the high concentration HC to the outside to surely prevent the occurrence of white smoke. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
