PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scroll type fluid machine made in a simple construction for easing sliding conditions between spiral walls and for exhibiting enhanced durability while maintaining sealing performance of a pressure chamber. SOLUTION: This scroll type fluid machine is provided with a scroll unit, and the scroll unit includes a fixed scroll and a movable scroll comprising an end plate and the spiral wall integrated with the end plate, and a tip seal 42 disposed on an end of the spiral wall of one of the scrolls and relatively slidingly-abutted on the end plate of the other scroll. For example, a part of the tip seal 42 on the movable scroll side (radial protrusion) protrudes from an outer wall surface of the spiral wall 38b, and is relatively slidingly-abutted on an inner wall surface of the spiral wall 36b of the fixed scroll, and a minute gap G is secured between the inner and outer wall surfaces when the pressure chamber is formed between the fixed and movable scrolls.
