PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-resistant release paper not only having excellent filling effects of a releasing agent but also having excellent heat resistance, and capable of imparting high smoothness; and to provide a method for producing the release paper. SOLUTION: The heat-resistant release paper is obtained by using a neutral paper as a base paper, impregnating the base paper with an acrylic resin, coating a polyvinyl alcohol at least on one surface of the base paper impregnated with the acrylic resin, and coating the releasing agent on the surface coated with the polyvinyl alcohol of the base paper.
