PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iridium complex capable of readily carrying out coating by coating method and achieving high luminous efficiency and low voltage. SOLUTION: The iridium complex is represented by general formula (1) (wherein R1-R8are each a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a halogen atom, an alkoxy group, a halogenated alkyl group, a dialkylamino group or a diarylamino group and each substituent may be bonded to other substituent and R9and R10are each an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxy group or a halogenated alkyl group and R11is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group or a halogenated alkyl group and R9, R10and R11may be each a polymerizable group or a group obtained by polymerizing the polymerizable group, with the proviso that at least one of R1to R11is≥5C alkyl group or alkoxy group; n is an integer of 1 or 2 and n1 is an integer of 1 or 2 and the sum of n and n1 is 3).
