This invention provides an actinic radiation curable ink jet ink, which can form high-definition images with good reproducibility without deteriorating the texture of printed matter even in printing on various recording materials, by an ink jet recording method, a method for ink jet image formation, and an ink jet recording apparatus. The actinic radiation curable ink jet ink is characterized by comprising 5 to 40% by mass of a tri- or higher functional acrylate or methacrylate compound having a partial structure represented by general formula (1). General formula (1) -(-R-O-)n- wherein R represents an alkylene group; and n is an integer of 3 or more.
