PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a "navigation apparatus" capable of preventing erroneous mapping onto a neighboring general road when traveling on an expressway not existing on a map data, capable of restraining own vehicle position from being shifted, and capable of exhibiting the own vehicle position to a user without strange feeling. SOLUTION: When the own vehicle position runs out from the expressway 21 on the map data, it is determined whether a speed of own vehicle is a determination reference speed or more of speed or not, and map matching process is stopped when the speed of the own vehicle is the determination reference speed or more of speed.
