QUALITY CONTROL METHOD FOR HOT STEEL MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quality control method for a hot steel material with the accuracy of quality control enhanced by comprehending precise temperature while excluding temperature measurement error at an end of the steel material.

SOLUTION: This quality control method comprises: a step for collecting surface temperature data on n0 points in a width direction from one end to the other end; a step for evaluating the surface temperature of the hot steel material based on surface temperature data on (n0-n1-n2) points which are evaluation portions excluding surface temperature data on n1 points including the one end which is a rising portion and surface temperature data on n2 points including the other end part which is a falling portion among the temperature data; and a step for assuring the quality of the steel material based on the evaluated surface temperature. Surface temperature of the steel material of a width B in a position at a distance A from the one end thereof is taken as a q-th group of surface temperature data defined by q=(n0-n1-n2)×(A/B)+n1.
