PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control notification relating to a received electronic mail at a receiver side, and to improve the convenience of an electronic mail function while considering its balance with the advantage of the sender of the electronic mail. SOLUTION: A communication terminal is provided with a telephony processing part 110 for receiving a mail, a speaker 124 for notifying that the mail has been received by the mail receiving part, an operation key 128 for accepting various input operations, a notification designation determination part 176 for storing first conditions for permitting notification by the speaker 124 accepted by the operation key 128, and for determining whether or not the first conditions are satisfied when a mail is received by the telephony processing part 110 and a notification control part for permitting notification by the speaker 124 when the first conditions are determined to be satisfied by the notification designation determination part 176, and for holding notification by the speaker 124 when the first conditions are determined not to be satisfied by the notification designation determination part 176.
