PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect/disconnect containers to/from each other via a coupling piece in either direction of the upward and downward directions by using upward/downward movement of an elevation cargo table in a stacker crane for improvement of workability in conveying in/out a container. SOLUTION: In this container storage device, the containers 70 are connected mutually via groove coupling pieces 75, which serves as a coupling piece between both end faces of the containers and has a dovetail shape 5a directed in the vertical direction, and a tenon coupling piece 76 having a dovetail tenon shape engageable with the groove coupling piece 75. The coupling pieces can be connected from either of the upper and lower directions, and the containers 70 are connected together via the coupling pieces by upward/downward movement using the upward/downward movement of the elevation cargo table 8 in one container 70 mounted on the elevation cargo table 8 in the stacker crane for the other container 70 mounted on a shelf width side.
