The unit has two levers (8, 7) that are independent of each other, and including two actuation sections with actuation areas (8a, 8b), respectively. The levers are pivotably coupled with a base unit at a rotation axis (X) for rotation of a cable receiving unit in two different directions, respectively. The lever (8) can be actuated from a starting position to a control position by exertion of pressure on the actuation area (8a) or on the actuation area (8b). The actuation area (8b) is angularly displaced from the actuation area (8a) with respect to a rotation axis of the actuation area (8a). An independent claim is included for an extension for a lever of a bicycle movement switching unit.
