<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To become sufficiently effective against a collision (side collision) with load applied from the side of a vehicle at the time of a collision or a collision prediction by solving the problem that a sufficient effect can't be necessarily obtained against the collision (side collision) with load applied from the side of the vehicle at the time of the collision or the collision prediction. <P>SOLUTION: This seat belt device is provided with a shoulder belt 27 for restraining a shoulder part to a breast part of an occupant 13 and a lap belt 28 for restraining the waist part of the occupant 13. The lap belt 28 is provided with first and second distal end belt parts 31 and 32 for branching the distal end into two parts. The first distal end belt part 31 is passed through a lower part of a seat surface 16. By providing the belt part 31 on the lower part of the seat surface 16, the belt part 31 is fixed to a driving device (seat side pretensioner) 34 for making the waist part of the occupant 13 close to the center of a vehicle body.
