<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal oxide spherical nanoparticle porous body which has a mesoporous structure having uniform pore diameter, high structural regularity, and high specific surface area, and exhibiting thermal resistance even at a temperature of≥400°C; a bulk body of the same; and a manufacturing method and applications of the same. <P>SOLUTION: The metal oxide spherical nanoparticle porous body has the mesoporous structure having high thermal resistance, which is formed from an aggregating structure of metal oxide spherical nanoparticles. The method for manufacturing the metal oxide spherical nanoparticle porous body having the mesoporous structure is characterized by adding water to nanoclusters formed by mixing a metal alkoxide and an organic solvent to subject the nanoclusters to hydrolysis reaction, and then separating and removing impurities contained in the formed reaction product by subjecting the reaction product to an extraction treatment using subcritical or supercritical carbon dioxide or to a heating treatment.
