<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control system carrying out better oxidation elimination of particulate matter in exhaust gas using a peroxide agent. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust emission control system for an internal combustion engine comprises an exhaust passage 13 through which exhaust gas exhausted from the internal combustion engine flows; a filter 14 provided in the exhaust passage 13 to collect particulate matter in the exhaust gas; and a peroxide agent producing device 40 for producing a peroxide agent outside the exhaust passage. When the temperature of exhaust gas flowing into the filter 14 is a predetermined temperature or lower, the peroxide agent produced by the peroxide agent producing device 40 is supplied to a predetermined part where the particulate matter is accumulated in the filter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
