PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for sound signal processing capable of accurately extracting a feature quantity common to all channels and performing time companding processing while synchronizing all the channels on the basis of the obtained common feature quantity. SOLUTION: The feature quantity common to respective channel signals constituting a multichannel sound signal is extracted (feature extracting means 3) on the basis of a composite similarity obtained by synthesizing similarities calculated from the respective channel signals, and temporal compression/expansion processing of the multichannel sound signal is performed (time base companding section 4) on the basis of the extracted feature quantity. Consequently, the feature quantity common to all the channels can accurately be extracted and while all the channels are held synchronous on the basis of the obtained feature quantity, the time companding processing can be performed, so time companding processing of high quality can be attained.
