PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver and a channel list generating method for generating a channel list in a manner of not decreasing the utilizing efficiency of its memory. SOLUTION: A memory section 103 stores a physical channel, a service ID, and a channel number assigned to an operation button corresponding to a remote controller ID extracted by a channel scan section 102 as a channel list while they are associated with each other. When discriminating that a plurality of channel information items whose service IDs are coincident with each other exist in the channel information items extracted by the channel scan section 102, a channel list generating section 104 determines any one of the channel information items on the basis of a reception level (or reception quality of a broadcast wave) and allows the memory section 103 to store the physical channel, the service ID and the channel number included in the determined channel information while they are associated with each other.
