PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve responsiveness to gear ratio command while inhibiting lowering of fuel economy. SOLUTION: This pulley driving device for a continuously variable transmission comprises: first and second rotating bodies 7, 8 engaged with first and second threaded grooves 4, 5 formed on a movable conical plate 3 in the directions opposite to each other; and braking means 11, 12, 13 for braking the rotation of the first and second rotating bodies 7, 8. The movable conical plate 3 is driven in one axial direction by difference in rotating speeds between the rotating body and the movable conical plate by braking the rotation of the first or second rotating bodies 7, 8.
