PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the precision of a recording start position of a recording image without performing maintenance of a printer body such as replacement of a sensor or readjustment of a voltage level even when an output of the sensor for detecting a recording medium position becomes instable. SOLUTION: The printer printing a plurality of recording ranges of a recording medium 216 having the recording ranges aligned at predetermined intervals comprises a transfer part 214 for transferring the recording medium to positions of heads for recording 201 to 206 along a direction in which the recording ranges align, a detecting sensor 217 which is arranged at the upstream side in the transfer direction of the transfer part and detects size information along the transfer direction of the recording ranges, and a comparing part which compares the size information of the recording range detected by the detecting sensor with an actual size of the recording range. The recording start position to the recording medium by the heads for recording is corrected on the basis of the comparison result of the comparing part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
