PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which achieves protection when a rotary brush is locked not affected by the fluctuation of a commercial AC power by providing a DC power source device having characteristic where output voltage drops rapidly when output current exceeds a prescribed value, so that the output voltage is never varied due to the fluctuation of the output current, so that stable dust collecting performance is secured. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner is provided with the DC power source device 30 having characteristic where the output current and the output voltage are a pendant type. Thus, in occurrence of over-current due to fluctuation of the commercial AC power source 33, variance of a surface to be cleaned, locking of a rotary brush 7, etc., a microcomputer 32 adjusts power supply to a brush motor 8 based on the detected voltage of a voltage detection means 31. That is, when the detected voltage drops (pendant) rapidly, it is judged that over-current occurs, and power supply to the brush motor 8 is stopped. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
