PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and efficiently control a reaction in a method for carrying out addition reaction of an alkylene oxide. SOLUTION: The method is carried out as follows. When adding the alkylene oxide containing ethylene oxide as an essential component to an active hydrogen-containing compound in a reaction vessel 11 while continuously feeding the alkylene oxide, the reaction is carried out while performing a feedback control within the range not exceeding a set value SVP of the pressure of equation (1): SVP=SOP-(a) (1) [wherein, (a) is a constant] based on a safe operation pressure SOP of the reaction vessel 11.
