PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an improved transfer accuracy by preventing bending or distortion of an optical element material by equalizing the temperature in a pair of heating plates before molding. SOLUTION: In a molding apparatus 1, the optical element material 13 is inserted into a molding die 5, and the molding die 5 is placed between the pair of opposing heating plates 2 and 3 and pressurized to mold the optical element material 13. The apparatus is equipped with a heater 6 that heats the pair of heating plates 2 and 3 and a cylinder device 4 that moves one of the heated heating plates 2 to stick the pair of heating plates 2 and 3 together.
