A circuit device subjects an input signal to a process based on a reference voltage and outputs the signal. The circuit device has a switching function for switching the reference voltage so as to obtain a stable output. The circuit device includes: a comparator (1) for comparing an input voltage given from outside to a reference voltage selected from a reference voltage set containing a plurality of different voltage values; and a reference voltage setting circuit (20). Upon detection of that the input voltage has reached the reference voltage in a voltage increase direction, the reference voltage setting circuit (20) selects a voltage value lower than the reference value from the reference voltage set. Upon detection of that the input voltage has reached the reference voltage in a voltage decrease direction, the reference voltage setting circuit (20) selects a voltage value higher than the reference value from the reference voltage set. The reference voltage setting circuit (20) sets the selected voltage value as the reference voltage of the comparator (1).
