<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that conventional tools have a plurality of troubles because of a large size and much time and labor required as a tool for climbing a tree though pruning work is indispensable in a process of growing the tree when forestation is carried out for the purpose of providing building materials, etc. <P>SOLUTION: The tool for climbing the tree is used by wearing on both legs for climbing the tree while alternately transferring the body weight to the right and left. The tool is obtained by arranging regulable hard bands wound around the tree with allowance, providing a short pawl 7 in one site thereof and connecting a right footstool 2 through a plate 5 to the side opposite to the pawl. Since the side of the pawl 7 of each band is always lifted with the plate 5 as a fulcrum by a spring assembled in the plate, the pawl 7 immediately bites into the tree when a load is applied to the right footstool 2 to press a right locking part 4 against the tree and support the body weight.
