PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-quality image by reducing image deterioration caused by lens-specific characteristics. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes an imaging device for converting light from a subject into a video signal, an imaging lens information acquisition means for acquiring information regarding an imaging lens, a correction means for correcting image deterioration incurred in the video signal based on the information regarding the imaging lens, a noise reduction processing means for applying noise reduction processing to an output signal of the correction means, and a discrimination means for discriminating whether or not a region where a pixel of interest to applying the noise reduction processing thereto is included is a region having predetermined characteristics from the output signal of the correction means. When the discrimination means discriminates that the region including the pixel of interest is a region having the predetermined characteristics, based on a correction quantity in the correction means, a noise suppression level in the noise reduction processing is changed in accordance with a position of that region within a screen.
