PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner with which temperature rise is suppressed by using an oscillation mirror and a high quality image is formed and undesirable phenomena caused by inequality of resonance frequencies of a plurality of oscillation mirrors are suppressed, and to provide an image forming apparatus using the optical scanner. SOLUTION: The optical scanner has a plurality of light sources, a deflection means which deflects luminous fluxes from the light sources and a focusing optical system which focuses the luminous fluxes deflected with the deflection means. The optical scanner is characterized in that the deflection means has an oscillation mirror having two reflection faces whose neutral position normal lines are directed in mutually reversed direction, and the plurality of luminous fluxes reflected and deflected on respective reflection faces independently scan corresponding regions to be scanned.
