PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for forming a highly durable coating with respect to a roll for conveyance, such as a hot run table roller, for conveying a high-temperature member, such as a hot-rolled steel material, at high speed; a method capable of forming a uniform quench-hardened layer on a roll surface, maintaining effects of the layer over a long time, inexpensively forming a sprayed coating with excellent durability and advantageously forming the sprayed coating; and a thermal spraying material used in this method. SOLUTION: On the surface of a roll base material for conveying the high-temperature member, the sprayed coating which contains cast iron powder in an Ni-based self-fluxing alloy matrix after remelting dispersed therein is formed.
