OPTICAL FILM, OPTICAL COMPENSATION FILM, POLARIZING PLATE, LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY UNIT, AND SELF LUMINOUS DISPLAY UNIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film which has a low optical anisotropy (Re, Rth), is substantially optically isotropic, further, has a small wavelength dispersion in the optical anisotropy (Re, Rth) and yet shows a low optical anisotropy (Re, Rth) even after stretching or shrinking.

SOLUTION: Re(λ)and Rth(λ)of the optical film satisfies the following relations; 0≤Re(590)≤10 and ¾Rth(590)¾≤25. Therein, the Re(λ)is front retardation value (nm) at wavelength λ(nm) and the Rth(λ)is retardation value (nm) in the film thickness direction at wavelength λ(nm).
